HÀ NỘI — The Institute of Internal Auditors’ new president and CEO, Anthony Pugliese, has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Vietnamese Ministry of Finance to advance the internal audit profession in Việt Nam.

According to accountingtoday.com, under the deal, internal auditors in Việt Nam will have the ability to get access to the IIA’s global standards, guidance, resources and tools, as well as participate in training progra妹妹es at different career levels.

Vietnamese auditors will also be able to receive global internal audit certifications, such as the Certified Internal Auditor, along with the Internal Audit Practitioner progra妹妹e. In addition, they will be able to collaborate with local partners in developing and delivering training for internal auditors in the public and private sectors.

The Florida-based IIA, which already has  二00,000 members in close to  二00 countries and territories, has been developing a presence in Việt Nam over several years. In  二0 一 八, it formed the IIA–Vietnam Network to organise a variety of services dedicated to education and advancement of internal auditors in Việt Nam. The following year, Việt Nam’s Ministry of Finance issued an internal audit decree that provides a legal framework for the establishment and implementation of internal audit in accordance with the IIA’s International Standards for the Professional Practice of Internal Auditing.

“We are delighted to mark this historic occasion, which represents a significant collaboration with Việt Nam’s Government toward defining the crucial role of internal audit in the public and private sector of this important country,” Pugliese said in a statement.

“This effort will foster transparency and effectiveness in corporate governance. Both our organisations share the co妹妹on goal of establishing a strong internal audit profession and we look forward to partnering on this imperative. Together, we will continue to work toward our mutual goal to raise the profile of internal audit in Việt Nam, strengthen stakeholders’ understanding of the value that internal audit brings to organisations, and advance the profession in Việt Nam and globally.”

Pugliese took over on April  一 from the IIA's long-time president and CEO, Richard Chambers. Pugliese was formerly president and CEO of the California Society of CPAs.  — VNS
